Merry Christmas & A Happy New Year!
What can Dogs eat on Christmas?
It is generally not a good idea to give dogs table scraps, especially on holidays like Christmas when there may be a lot of rich and fatty foods being served. Many common holiday foods, such as ham, turkey, and gravy, can be harmful to dogs and can cause digestive issues. It is always best to stick to a regular, balanced diet for your dog, rather than giving them human food as treats.
There are, however, some human foods that are safe for dogs to eat in moderation. These include plain, cooked chicken or turkey (without bones, skin, or seasoning), cooked vegetables (such as carrots, green beans, and sweet potatoes), and small amounts of plain, cooked grains like rice and pasta. You can also give your dog some plain, unsalted, unseasoned canned pumpkin (not the pumpkin pie filling) as a treat.
If you want to give your dog a special treat on Christmas, you can consider purchasing some dog-safe treats or making your own at home. There are many recipes online for homemade dog treats that use ingredients like oats, peanut butter, and pumpkin. Just be sure to use ingredients that are safe for dogs and avoid adding any spices or seasonings that could be harmful to your pet.
It is important to remember that dogs have different dietary needs than humans and it is not safe to give them all the same foods that we eat. If you have any concerns about your dog's diet, it is best to consult with a veterinarian.
