Life with Alby: A Mini Australian Mountain Doodle’s First Winter in New England

Bringing home a Mini Australian Mountain Doodle is an adventure filled with love, snuggles, and plenty of playful moments. Albus "Alby", a stunning Red Merle Tri (Chocolate) Mini Australian Mountain Doodle, from Stilly x Rico, is settling into his forever home in a historic New England neighborhood, and his family couldn't be happier.

A Loving Companion with a Big Personality

Alby is pure joy. Whether he's curled up in a lap or eagerly greeting the next person who enters the room, his affectionate nature is undeniable. He’s a champion snuggler, a professional kiss-giver, and a lap climber—even when he's chewing on his toys. His family describes him as having a heart full of love for whoever walks in next, always ready to share his enthusiasm.

At just 15 pounds, Alby is growing fast, and his vet says he’s thriving. He sleeps through the night and is mastering potty training—still working out the details, but he’s getting there! One of his favorite spots? His crate. He enjoys it as a cozy retreat, often hanging out there even when the family is home.

Alby’s Favorite Activities: Fetch, Hikes & Beach Adventures

Like many Mini Australian Mountain Doodles, Alby is an active and intelligent pup who loves to play. Indoors, he enjoys a lively game of fetch in the kitchen, returning the toy with a huge, trusting leap into his family’s laps—a move that will be even funnier when he reaches his expected 35-40lbs-pound adult weight. His mother is 40 and Dad is 30.

Outside, Alby is just as adventurous. He enjoys:
Playing fetch in the yard—although his love for bunny poop sometimes distracts him!
Exploring hiking trails—he instinctively follows the path and stays focused.
Visiting the beach—where the smells and scenery keep him endlessly entertained.

Winter Walks in a Historic New England Neighborhood

Alby is learning the ropes of neighborhood walks, navigating a world filled with new sights and sounds. His home in a classic New England town means houses sit close to the sidewalk, and he sometimes gets spooked when dogs bark from inside. His family reassures him with treats, snuggles, and positive reinforcement, helping him gain confidence.

Although he takes his time on walks, he’s an observant puppy. He often pauses to listen, soaking in the sounds of his surroundings. This mindful nature is a hallmark of Australian Mountain Doodles, a breed known for their intelligence and attentiveness.

Socialization & AMD Puppy Training

Alby recently had his first playdate with his cousin—a 45-pound Black Lab puppy! While a bit timid at first inside the house, he quickly found his confidence outdoors, running and playing like a pro. His family is also setting up a training session for basic etiquette lessons to refine his manners as he grows.

One of the sweetest updates? Alby is amazing with kids. His gentle, friendly nature shines, and his family credits this to the love and early socialization he received from the breeder’s children before coming home.

Final Thoughts: Life with a Mini Australian Mountain Doodle

Alby is the perfect example of what life with a Mini Australian Mountain Doodle puppy looks like—affectionate, playful, intelligent, and full of personality. From snowy hikes to cozy snuggles, he’s embracing winter in New England with boundless enthusiasm.

His family is head over heels in love and looks forward to sharing more updates as he grows. Stay tuned for more adorable adventures, and if you’re considering adding an Australian Mountain Doodle to your family, check out our Available Puppies for upcoming litters!
